Skinny Pop Popcorn Review

Maryam Z | 3:57 PM | |

What is about popcorn that makes it the perfect snack? It's light, crunchy and very addicting. But, not all popcorn is healthy for you.

We've all heard stories about microwaveable popcorn causing cancer when inhaled during it's popping frenzy while in the microwave or even seconds after the bag has been pulled out and the steam hits your face. It has also been said that factory workers have developed lung cancer from a chemical that is added to microwavable popcorn. This chemical is called "diacetyl" and basically it's a chemical that gives processed food that buttery taste. Without this chemical added, the food becomes bland and tasteless. When this chemical is inhaled, it causes lung cancer. According to Wikipedia, only one consumer was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Yeah... pretty disturbing huh? Movie theater popcorn on the other hand is fatty when "butter" is added to it. The calories in a large container of buttered theater popcorn is is like eating one of McDonalds calorie bursting burgers, lol. But yet, knowing the dangers and health risks of these snacks, we still eat them. I will admit I used to eat microwavable popcorn on a daily basis. Something about it made it addicting and so mouth watering that a whole bag wasn't enough for me, lol. I can't even remember how many bags I would go through a week. All I know is that I ate two much of it!

Now, lately I've been looking around for healthier snacks that not only I can enjoy, but my family as well. I've looked around the store numerous times and I didn't really find anything that seemed appealing to my taste buds. Well, there were a lot of healthy snacks, but none that seemed scrumptious. I found out about Skinny Pop Popcorn and figured, why not. Well, they sent me some samples to review:

Now that's what I call samples! I received a total of twelve bags. Right away I gave my neighbor two bags to try so they could let me know their thoughts on the popcorn.

Above is a picture of what the popcorn bag looks like. I also took a picture of the nutrition facts so you can get a visual of the goodness. Now, here are some facts about Skinny Pop Popcorn:

  • All Natural
  • Low Calorie
  • Cholesterol Free
  • Trans fat Free
  • Dairy Free
  • Peanut Free
  • Gluten Free
  • Non GMO
  • Preservative Free
  • A Great Source of Fiber
  • And Delicious!
And guess what? Skinny Pop Popcorn ingredients are: All Natural Popcorn, Sunflower Oil and Salt. These three ingredients are what makes Skinny Pop Popcorn healthy, addicting and of course guilt free. You can indulge without the bulge, lol. I got that line from some commercial I seen on TV the other day.

Now look at that deliciousness! Out of all 10 bags (2 were given to the neighbor), there are 5 bags left. The kids and I have been snacking on Skinny Pop Popcorn daily and it seems to never get old. When I say never get old, I mean we aren't fed up with eating so much popcorn. My neighbors upstairs from me are addicted to the popcorn as well. One of them said that they can't believe there are only three ingredients in Skinny Pop Popcorn.

If I had to choose between microwavable, theater or Skinny Pop popcorn, I would definitely go with Skinny any day! It taste amazing, it's so crispy and mouth watering. It's not to salty, doesn't taste synthetic or artificial. There are times when I am eating the popcorn that it has a buttery taste to it. And the aroma! Oh my goodness! It smells like freshly popped popcorn from one of those popcorn makers. Just writing about the popcorn and seeing that scrumptious picture is making me hungry, lol. Ahh, Skinny Pop Popcorn, you complete me!
