My Review:
I was given the opportunity to review a few of Norm's Farms products. To be honest, this was quite an interesting opportunity because I have never tried elderberries before. I mean, I've heard of them but never knew what they were or how they tasted. I have a love for food so when it comes to trying something new, it's exciting, lol. I received the following products from Norm's Farms:

Elderberry Syrup

(Image from Norm's Farms)

Elderberry Syrup contains equal amounts of our Pure Elderberry Juice and Wild Clover Honey spiced with cloves and cinnamon, and comes in 8 oz recyclable glass bottles.  Soothes sore throats, tastes great, and is a favorite home remedy for the flu.  The recommended serving is one to two tablespoons several times a day.  Elderberry juice contains higher levels of anti-oxidants than Blueberry, Sweet Cherry, Tart Cherry, Acai, Noni, Goji, Pomegranate and Cranberry juices, and honey has natural antibiotic properties. 12 to a case.

Elderberry Juice

Made from American grown native elderberries. Not from European Concentrate. 8 Fl oz. recyclable glass bottles. Recommended  serving: 1 to 2 tablespoons a day taken alone or added to your favorite beverage.  Elderberry juice contains higher levels of anti-oxidants than Sweet Cherry, Tart Cherry, Acai, Noni, Goji, Pomegranate and Cranberry juices.  12 to a case.

Elderberry Jelly

Our Elderberry Jelly is made with our Pure Elderberry Juice, lightly sweetened with pure cane sugar and a touch of lemon juice. This is a brighter, lighter version of our jam and a great way to get your daily dose of elderberry.  Recyclable 9 FL oz reusable glass jars.

Elderberry Jam

Our Elderberry Jam is made with the whole fruit and no seeds. It is then lightly sweetened with pure cane sugar and a touch of lemon juice.   Dr. Oz names Elderberry Jam as one of his top five foods for brain health, and you won't find a better tasting Elderberry Jam anywhere.   Deep, Dark and Delicious, Norm's Farms Elderberry Jam comes in 9 FL oz reusable, recyclable glass jars.

Elderberry Ginger Pecan Jam

Our Elderberry Ginger Pecan Jam is loaded with chunks of pecans and candied ginger.  Delicious with soft cheeses and crusty bread, this tasty and unique jam is a wonderful way to get your daily serving of elderberry.

They all look so good, don't they? Honestly, I haven't tried the juices yet, but I've had the jams. I just had some jam not to long ago on a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich, lol. I did also use the elderberry jam to make a delicious Elderberry Coffee Cake recipe that I found on Norm's Farms website.

The recipe was a bit more complex than any other recipe I have tried in the past. There were also more dishes than usual, but I didn't mind it. It did also call for a round spring form pan, but I didn't have one of those so I used a loaf pan. Surprisingly, it came out pretty good! I did enjoy the coffee cake with coffee of course, but I could only eat a small amount. To be honest, it's a bit to sweet for my taste buds....

I mean, I don't mind sweets, but I'm sensitive to certain things and if it's to sweet for me, I tend to feel sick after. It does suck sometimes because there are things that I wish I could eat without feeling nauseous. That's also the opposite of my husband and I. He could eat sweets like it's going out of style, but I can't. I love my salty foods, lol. So basically the cake was great, it was just to sweet for me.

The jams themselves though taste great with other things. I know I mentioned the recipe being to sweet, but that's because there was other things in there that are sweet. The jams are not to sweet and they are great even by themselves. I am in love with the Elderberry Ginger Pecan Jam! The jam has a unique taste to it. It's not like any other berry jam I have tasted. It has a natural sweet taste, the texture it similar to grape jam, it's not bitter nor does it have a pungent taste.

There is one recipe that caught my eye and that's the Elderberry Glazed Pork Tenderloins. Oh my goodness does that recipe sound so mouth watering. I told my husband about it and he seemed interested to try it as well. I also have enough elderberry jam left over. So once I do make that, I'll post some pictures along with the recipe.

One more thing I wanted to mention about the elderberry is that it has a lot of benefits! The Botanical name for Elderberries is Sambucus Canadensis. These elderberries are antioxidant-rich and are capable of preventing cell damage. There have also been studies showing that elderberries may have anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and anticancer properties. Not only that, but the extract called Sambucol could shorten flu duration by up to three days! They are also a very good source of fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, potassium, vitamin B6 and lots of betacarotene.

    1. I did a little more research on the elderberries and found that they are quite healthy for the body compared to other berries. The last part of my review explains all the benefits the elderberries has to offer. It's surprising that such a berry can have a great impact on the body. The jam and jelly are very tasty and I've been eating them daily in the morning. My kids love it as well.
