As a child, I grew up watching nothing but Disney movies. Maybe a few other vhs tapes here and there, but it was always Disney films. Something about there films made me feel like I was apart of it. I remember my sister and I would watch a movie over and over till we had every line memorized. Then, before we played the film again we would decide who voiced who and would go from there. We had a blast, lol! One movie I recall watching as a child was The Little Mermaid. I honestly could not remember much of the movie till I heard The Little Mermaid Legacy Collection CD, then the memories from childhood began to flood and it all came back to me.

When the sardine begin to beguine
It's music to me"

The Little Mermaid collections features the songs and score from the film by Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman. The collection also comes with a 20-page booklet that includes the lyrics to the songs, artwork from the movie, and they also talk about how the movie began. The music takes you from the beginning of the movie to the end. You know, when listening to the CD, it has an effect like your listening to a radio broadcast. You can visually see the movie in your head when your listening to the music, you can feel the excitement, sadness, joy, the rush and more! It's pretty neat!

Here's what Alan Menken has to say about the Legacy Collection:
“The greatest thing about what we do is create something that works in the moment, but also stands the test of time. For the last 25 years, a generation has grown up with ‘The Little Mermaid’ and it has so greatly influenced them. I hear all the time it’s the soundtrack of so many people’s lives, and that’s a thrilling thing.”
“The Legacy Collection reorganizes the material and allows the listener to be able to draw more out of it and enjoy it on another level. Technology has improved over the decades and going back to the masters results in better representations of the material on these CDs.”
Commenting on Disc Two’s song demos Menken adds:
“I hope listeners experience some of our memories and I hope they take away, as I do, a lot of re-discoveries. The demos of some the song moments take the listener through the process on how they were developed, understanding what the authors wanted to communicate, and ultimately leading into what the song became.”
