A very late Geek Fuel Sub-Scription box Review for the month of June / 90's Flashback

For those of you reading this, this box is from June. Yes, I know it's late, but there's a lot going on with my health that I haven't been able to get this post up a lot sooner. But, I am feeling a tad bit better!
Now, as for this box, I was so excited to receive this one because it's theme is from the best years of my childhood; the 90's! Every now and then I think about how things were when I was a kid and honestly, today's kids are missing out. Not saying that they aren't having the time of their life or anything like that, but the things I grew up with were 100 times more entertaining than what they have out now. The movies, T.V. shows, playing cards, toys, VHS players, candy, drinks and so much more! Slowly things from the 90's are starting come back to the kids of today's generation and it's exciting. I feel so giddy and my inner child comes out, lol.

Here are the items I received in the June Geek Fuel Box:

Mighty Morphin Magnets - Receive 1 or 5

Details: Stick it to the alien invaders... or the fridge with the one of these limited edition magnets. Odds: Red 8/18, Pink 6/10, Blue 3/10, Black 1/10, Yellow 1/10

My Thoughts: I've always been a fan of Power Rangers since 1993 and the original show is by far the best one they ever did. Sadly this series stop playing towards the end of 1995 and they came out with a new series adding a new character. It wasn't that bad, but I wish they would have kept up with the older version. Either way, Power Rangers is still one of the best samurai shows created! The action was so cheesy in that show that it made it even better. I look at it now and think, "Wow, that is the worst fight I've ever seen, but it's addicting to watch!" Go Go Power Rangers!
FINISH IT!! Book Mark

Details: As every good warrior knows, street smarts only gets you so far. Listen to Sub-Zero and Scorpion and Kombat the chapters in the ultimate quest to finish your books, or suffer fatalities!

My Thoughts: One of the best fighting games ever created in the 90's was Mortal Kombat. You fought with characters like Raiden, Kano, Liu Kang, Subzero, Sonya Blade, Scorpion and many more. Now, to be honest, I've never heard of Mortal Kombat and had no idea what it was till I met my husband back in high school. One day, he was talking about the movie and games and who his favorite characters were and I looked at him with confusion. See, growing up, I didn't know much of what was out there. Like movies for example. I basically grew up watching just Disney and certain movies that came on T.V. and everything else was out of the picture. With T.V., I watched what was on the kids channels and that's about it. Well, I did go behind my parents back snuck in an episode of Beavis and Butthead and maybe watched a few music videos on MTV. When it came to gaming, I had the original Nintendo (didn't last very long because my parents got rid of it) and a Super Nintendo. That was it!

The games that we did play were The Lion King, The Jungle Book, Kirby and Zelda. So, I didn't know about Mortal Kombat at all. When my husband and I got a hold of a PlayStation one, we bought Mortal Kombat and boy is that game fun! He grew up playing the game on the Sega Genesis though.

Now to the bookmark! I find this bookmark to be very amusing. My kids even got a kick out of it because Scorpion and Sub-Zero are both reading a book and in big red letters it reads: FINISH IT!! My oldest finished one of his books not long ago and referenced this bookmark when he was done. That was too funny, lol.
Super Win the Game: Downloadable game code and key chain

Details: Unlock levels of fun and nostalgia with Super Win the Game. This 8-bit adventure has you traveling across lands far and wide, while the key comes in handy for unlocking real-life mystery boxes.

My Thoughts: Another game has been added in the Geek Fuel box and this one right here is an Indie game. For those of you that don't know what an Indie game is, it's an Independent video game that is created by an individual or a small team that is using a publisher for financial support. It's like an Indie movie, but in a gaming platform. Which I'd have to say is quite nice because I feel that they are more creative and some of them are pretty addicting! As for this one right here, I haven't played it, but I found a video on YouTube giving a lot of detail and game play so, check it out:

90's Mutant Hero Ooze

Details: Ack! It's ooze! Reminiscent of the green slime that covers the sewer walls, this mutant sludge is the perfect way to gross out friends with a well-placed blob or an equally well-placed squishing around.

"Go ninja, go ninja go! Go ninja, go ninja go!"

My Thoughts: Oh man was TMNT amazing to watch. I love the T.V shows and the movies. In the second movie (came out in 1991), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the ooze, the turtles fought Shredder for the last canister of ooze. This ooze was what created the turtles and shredder wants it to create a mutant army. Which turns out all wrong for him and the Teenage mutant ninja turtles saves the day. It's a classic and you know what, it'll never get old.

The ooze reminds me so much of my childhood. Almost every toy, well not every, but a lot of the toys they came out with in the 90's had ooze in it. They used to have little science kits where you could create your own ooze and do some crazy experiments and then there was this one toy that I remember, but I don't recall the name that came out in the mid 90's and they were a bunch of monsters. When you squeezed their head, a bubble of ooze would pop out. My parents got my brother one of those monsters and I wanted one for myself, but they wouldn't get me one because they said it was for boys only. So.. I took his monster, played with it and I think I popped it. Oh well, lol.

Slim was another big thing, especially in that T.V. show called Nickelodeon Slime Time. That show was fun to watch and it was hilarious watching everyone on that show get smothered in slime. I always wanted to go on the show just so I could have a bucket of slime poured all over me.
The Complete Series

Jurassic Park: The book started it all and spurned an entire generations imagination is back to remind you just how far we can take science.

The Lost World: The second book, and host to more than one movie sequel, provides all the geekiest, science-filled pieces to complete the Jurassic world puzzle.

My Thoughts: Jurassic Park is one of the best, I mean the BEST dinosaur movies ever created! I've watched the first movie hundreds of times when I was younger and it will never get old. When they had it in theaters a couple years ago, I took my oldest to see it in 3D and we had a great time. You know, some movies aren't meant for 3D, but Jurassic Park is one that is best to watch in 3D. I haven't seen the Jurassic World movie yet, but I've been itching to. I've been hearing from everyone that the movie is action packed and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Hopefully we can see it before it hits DVD/Blue-Ray.

When I seen these books in the Geek Fuel box, I was pretty stoked. I've only seen the movies and I know that the books have more in them than the movie, so I will be reading these soon. Well, after I finish my long list of books that I should be reading first.

Geek Fuel Exclusive T-Shirt - The Truth is out There

Details: Whether you believe or not is up to you, but the fact of the matter is the truth is out there. In an ade our favorite alien-based science fiction show of the 90's we've given a central and mostly unseen character the center stage of Da Vince's Vitruvian Man. Venture forth and discover your own truth.

My Thoughts: Just so you all know, I am a HUGE X-Files fan and when I seen this shirt I nearly fainted. I mean, this right here is my favorite piece in the Geek Fuel box and it will be treasured forever, lol. Call me obsessive or say that I am going overboard, but the T.V. show and books have changed the way I look at the world. Aliens are out there people! I could be one, but who would ever know, lol. I cannot wait to watch the new mini series that won't air till January 24 of 2016. It sucks that I have to wait that long, but in the mean time, I'm going to be watching every episode of all 9 seasons, including the movies and gear up for the new release. So exciting!

I'm amazed that the Geek Fuel exclusive shirt is based of the X-Files. I love every shirt I've received so far, but this one right here is by far the best! And I'm sure any X-Files fan out there would feel the same way I do about this. You know, for years, well, since I was a kid, I never cared or even wanted to watch the X-Files. My parents used to watch, but then they said they didn't like it. Because they said this, I didn't bother. Until one day when Netflix added the show on stream about 4 years ago, my husband suggested we'd give it a shot and we watched it. It took us a couple episodes to get into it, but after it started picking up, we were addicted to it. To the point where we ended up watching about 4 to 6 episodes a day!

Everything about that show makes you question what could really be going on here. The phenomenon, the extraterrestrials, the hidden secrets, the government, just everything in life. And the way Dana Scully and Fox Mulder do things in there just makes the show even more interesting. I look at the show and see myself as Dana because I for the longest never believed in aliens and my husband would be perfect as Mulder because he was the one that opened my eyes into seeing things differently. It may sound crazy, but if you open your mind to the possibilities, it makes you wonder, what's really going on? I WANT TO BELIEVE!

Overall, I am very pleased with this box! The June box is my favorite because it brings back so many good memories of my childhood and with the exclusive T-Shirt being an X-Files shirt, this box is my favorite one out of all the other's I've reviewed.

  1. WOW! There is a lot of stuff in the Geek Fuel box. I hope you are feeling better. I like the discussion about Mortal Combat. Did you know that I still have the Original Nintendo and Super Nintendo systems with the Mortal Combat game and tons of the other games that were a hit. My son loved the Power Rangers and that was a good show. I liked a lot of stuff in this box. My son would like getting one.
