MediSafe Medication Reminder App Review

I received compensation for my work on this campaign. This post was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own.

When it comes to taking medicine everyday, I can honestly say that I am one to forget. I mean, it happens to everyone. But when you are prescribed a certain kind of medication and you have to take it daily, it's best that you don' miss a dose. I know with the medicine that the doctor has me taking right now, if I miss a dose for a period of time, I have to throw out the rest of the pills I in that pack, even if it's has a couple weeks in it and start the next pack. Which is something I would not want to do! We all know how expensive medications can get and throwing any away is basically the same as throwing money in the garbage.

Now, the medication my doctor prescribed me is called Microgestin which is the birth control pill. No I am not taking it to prevent pregnancy. My doctor has me taking it to prevent me from getting anymore ovarian cysts and to balance my hormones since they seem to be out of control... I feel like it's doing some progress, but I still think there is something else wrong with my body. But I basically just started this medication even though I'm about 2 months into it. For those of you that have used or are using the pill, you know that once you take that first pill, you have to take it everyday at the same time. I mean, it's not so bad, but once in a while you tend to forget because your preoccupied with something and then the whole routine gets screwed up.

For a short while, I was using my alarm clock as a reminder, but there was that one day where I had accidentally turned it off the day before and I almost missed my dose... So yeah... I didn't like that idea. Not long after, I was accepted to do a review on this app called Medisafe.

About the app:
  • An all-encompassing app: Medisafe is the leading app to help you stay on top of all your medications. Way more than a pill organizer (although it’s that, too), Medisafe makes it easy to adhere to the most complicated medication schedule, so wondering, “Did I take this already?” is a thing of the past. But that’s just the beginning. Medisafe connects you to your family (and soon, your doctors) for support, encouragement and expertise. It learns about your unique situation, so it can deliver custom notifications for appointments and refills, medication updates, personalized health recommendations and discounts to help you stay in control, informed and on budget. And it correlates your progress with measurements like blood pressure and glucose levels to show the direct health benefit of taking your meds as prescribed.
  • Leader in the market: Medisafe brings peace of mind to the 2 million people who use it – as well as the people who care about them.
  • The family story behind Medisafe: The two co-founder brothers decided to create Medisafe to help their diabetic father manage his health and medications better. Their mission is to make Medisafe the app that helps you stay on top of your health and medications and be our health companion.

As you can see, I took a ton of screenshots! I may have went a bit overboard, but I wanted to give you a feel of what the app does if the helps, lol. But from what you can see, this app has a lot of features to it. The one thing that made this app perfect for me would have to be the reminder feature. You can choose from there reminder settings or personalize it adding your own tune to it. I decided to go with their Star Wars feature since I am a fan. Whenever it's time to take my dose, my phone will go off and it will say, "Take your meds or I will bring you to the dark side!" or "I believe you take your meds you will become a Jedi master". Call me a nerd, but this motivates me to take my meds, lol.

Another great thing about this app is that it tells me how many pills I have left and when I would need to get my next refill. I haven't gotten a refill quite yet since I was given a three month supply, but with the way the time has been flying, three months is going to be over a lot sooner than you think... There is also a monthly status letting you know how well your doing with keeping track and staying on time with your medication. With this app, it's also helps with doctor appointment reminders. I am one to forget quite often when I need to go to the doctor and the clinic doesn't always call to remind me. So once I make an appointment, I can set it in this app and when it comes time or around, it will let me know.

You can also keep track of your weight, measurements, pulse, blood pressure and much more. Honestly, I'm not much of an app person, but this app right here has been helping me out so much! Surprisingly it doesn't drain your battery like a lot of apps out there do, it hasn't crashed at all and I haven't had any problems with it glitching or shutting off on me. Overall, I can honestly say that this app is perfect for anyone taking daily medication. I am very pleased with this app and would recommend it!

You can find the Medisafe app on both Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store)
